Antonio Possenti (1933-2016)

He was born in Lucca in 1933. After completing his classical studies, he discovers the expressive qualities of the design, favoring an inclination to the story with fairytale connotations. He comes to the self-taught painting and its formation was the result of intellectual curiosity and of literary and artistic culture that has breathed as a child in the family, ranging from the greek-roman classicism to the modern  and contemporary era and with a preference for fantasy experiences . He traveled a lot and met many people and cultures, but he always returned to Lucca in the heart of his city. He has participated in numerous international exhibitions, among the most important Fairs of Art in Bologna , Cologne, Milan, Art Basel in Basel, F.I.A.C. Paris, Art Fair in Los Angeles, Art Miami, New York International Art Fair, Tuyap Istanbul, Foire d'art Gent, Arco Madrid, Stockholm, St'Art Strasbourg, BART Barcelona. He has had solo shows in prestigious public spaces: the Uffizi Museum, Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Palace of Caserta, Tour Fromage in Aosta, Palazzo Ducale in Massa, Castel dell'Ovo in Naples and he has received numerous prizes and awards. He died in Lucca July 28, 2016
